NEW YORK (Reuters) - Three days before ending their season, the struggling Buffalo Bills promoted Russ Brandon to chief executive and appointed national scout Buddy Nix as general manager on Thursday.

Chris Mortensen at ESPN is reporting via Twitter that the Buffalo Bills have promoted Buddy Nix to the position of General Manager. The official ESPN report adds that Russ Brandon has a new title: President and CEO. Team owner Ralph Wilson has held the team Presidency for the past four years.

WASHINGTON — An attempt to blow up a trans-Atlantic flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day would be all-consuming for the administrator of the Transportation Security Administration — if there were one.

The post remains vacant because Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., has held up President Barack Obama's nominee in opposition to the prospect of TSA workers joining a labor union.
