Edwards focuses on 3-4 transition in Buffalo

The Buffalo Bills are in the process of changing from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 front. The man in charge of the transformation is defensive coordinator George Edwards, hired from the University of Florida during Super Bowl week.

In total, Democrats will have to defend five open seats in November, as Roland Burris of Illinois and Ted Kaufman of Delaware have stated they will not run for their own six-year terms. Burris was appointed to President Barack Obama's former Senate seat, while Kaufman was appointed to Vice President Joe
Biden's seat.

Meanwhile, Republicans will be forced to defend six seats in the midterm elections. Sens. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, Kit Bond of Missouri, Jim Bunning of Kentucky, George Voinovich of Ohio and Sam Brownback of Kansas are all retiring at the end of the year.

Add Watson to the Retirement List
Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA) is ready to announce her retirement, CQ Politics reports.

California's 33rd congressional district is solidly Democratic and not likely to be competitive. Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D) is expected to soon announce her bid to replace the congresswoman.

The retirement tally: 12 House Democrats and 17 House Republicans.

Only 12 percent of the public say that the Obama administration has lowered their taxes since coming to office, despite the fact that the White House's stimulus package cut taxes for 95 percent of Americans, a new opinion survey found.
